Georgina has changed. The past 4 years:
We've raised standards.
We've strengthened the foundation.
We've put long-term plans in place.
Now comes the work of following through.
1. Make the most of what is already planned
Where projects have funding, approvals or plans in place, the focus should be on delivering them well.
That includes the new five-acre Simcoe Landing park, fire hall and healthcare opportunities, along with other projects already moving through the Town's planning and capital processes.
2. Plan for a growing community
Growth is coming.
We should welcome the opportunities that come with it while making sure roads, parks, recreation, businesses, housing and community connections keep pace.
3. Make it easier to do business
A strong community needs local businesses.
We can continue working to make Town processes clearer, more predictable and responsive while creating opportunities for commercial and industrial growth.
4. Keep improving everyday spaces
Growth shouldn't mean forgetting the neighbourhoods we already have.
We need to keep working on roads, drainage, aging water systems, parks, beaches, trails and the everyday places people depend on.
5. Protect what makes Georgina special
Our lake.
Our farms.
Our waterways.
Our natural spaces.
Our community character.
These aren't obstacles to growth. They are part of what we are growing around.
