Leave it better than i found it

In 2022, I shared my thoughts on the idea of "Leave it better than you found it." It’s more than just a catchy phrase; it’s a concept I was taught and one that means a lot to me.

I think we can all embrace it!

Coming out of COVID was a challenge, and we had to get back on track together.

At the Town, we tackled the backlog of work and took a deep dive into understanding what we own, the condition and future costs.

With this knowledge in hand, for the first time, we were able to map out a solid 10-year plan for the future that will help ensure we better care for what we have, while continuing to invest in our town.

As I look back over the past four years, I’m proud to say I’ve been part of making our community spaces better, bit by bit.

Yes, there is more to do!

And I would like to keep doing the work! Charlene

You may be curious about who I am and how I spend my time outside work.

For me, it's with my husband Dave, our two cats, family and good friends. I am an avid gardener, cook, and thrift shopper.

I thought a collage would be a fun way to share.

We've gotten a lot, done Ward 1!

There's more work to do!

Are you with me Ward 1? Vote Biggerstaff on Oct 26.

Let's Stay Connected!

I don't want the next time we talk to be at your door in 4 years.

As new projects start the planning phases, your input and thoughts are key to getting it right.

Along the way, I want you to send me emails, go for a coffee, a walk, chat over the phone or invite me to meet with your group.

I am going to do the best work for us when I hear from you!

Charlene Biggerstaff

Ward 1 Councillor 2022/2026

Candidate 2026

Do you Love the Lake?

Yes I do!

The foundation is in place. Now let's move forward.

Georgina is entering another chapter.

After reviewing the plans and master plans already in place, I can see the direction our community is heading.

  • More homes.
  • More businesses.
  • More job opportunities.
  • More recreation.
  • Better connections.

And people who want to enjoy the lakes, parks and community spaces that make Georgina special.

I want to help make that reality while protecting what matters, like the things that brought us here in the first place: greenspaces, lakeside living, recreation and the friendliness of a small town.

What I see ahead

  • Better connections
Planning for roads, walking, cycling and trails that connect neighbourhoods to the places people need to go.
  • More opportunities
Welcoming businesses, jobs, retail, healthcare and services closer to home.
  • Recreation that keeps pace
Making sure parks, beaches, trails and recreation opportunities grow with our community.
  • Homes for different stages of life
Continue to approve and plan for a mix of housing choices as Georgina grows.
  • A community worth protecting
Keeping our lakes, waterways, farms, green spaces and community character part of the plan.
  • Careful financial planning
Using long-term plans and asset management to understand what we have, what it will cost to maintain and where new investment makes sense.

We need to be ready for our future.

"Ask her how the Township is structured and who actually makes a given decision, and she'll tell you — not in slogans, but in the order things really happen.

Ask about the Keswick Business Park and she talks about the development plan like someone who has read it.

For anyone trying to get something done at a municipality, that kind of knowledge is worth a great deal. Sympathy tells you someone cares. Knowledge tells you they can help."
